Girl’s denim jeans are attracted by teenage girls for over a century. Denim is flexible in almost any wardrobe and will nearly go with anything. This adaptable fabric has comes in all shapes and sizes in almost any cut imaginable.

When you go shopping for girls denim jeans there are a few essential things you want to think about. First you will have to wear your jeans for extended periods of time. You will want something that you can wear and be comfortable with for that period of time. Some styles of jeans can be very uncomfortable like some low rise jeans.

Girl’s denim jeans are cut anyway imaginable and the denim comes in various materials. The materials can be soft, strong or stretchy. Denim has been in the mainstream over a century so they come on many different cuts and styles. The most trendy today are flared, boot cut and skinny jeans. Then there is the way they are cut to fit your waist. These Styles are regular, low rise and super low rise.

There are a few styles of girl’s denim jeans that are measured fashionable today. There are flared which are similar to the bell bottoms of the 70s. These fit snug up top and start to flare out towards the bottom. Then there is the boot cut style which is almost the same as flared but not as extreme. They flare out, but just enough to fit over a boot.

Hence the name boot cut. Then there are the super tight skinny jeans. This style fits very tight to your body. They will show off every curve of your body. The skinny jean trend is the most fashionable and when teamed with a low rise cut can be the hottest trend on the market.

Yes ladies and gents, I too am big in the land of Lederhosen and motorways with no speed limit, as on Thursday I was the top story on Modepilot – Germany’s top Fashion blog. Now my German’s not brilliant (B at GCSE, really should have been an A, but I digress….), but I do know that the lovely Kathrin Bierling has said that I’m her New Favourite Blog! It’s all thanks to the massively talented and utterly fabulous Stefan Lindemann – Fashion Editor of German InStyle, and ex-Shopping Editor (a title I’d like die for) at Grazia (UK). Stefan was my first ever Fashion mentor, and taught me everything I know about Chanel and Dim Sum (i.e. Chanel has to be earned, and it’s almost impossible to eat Dim Sum if you keep Kosher). So, in honour of Stefan, Kathrin, and my legions of German fans here’s my top 5 German Fashion/ Style icons….

5. Hugo Boss - So, their involvement in the manufacture of Black uniforms for the Third Reich isn’t exactly ideal, but who hasn’t at some point (most probably in their teens, and as part of a Boots gift set) owned a Hugo Boss fragrance? On that basis alone I feel the mega-brand deserves 5th place in my German hall of fame.

4. Jil Sander – It’s not something that comes particularly naturally to me (ok – so I find it almost impossible –blame it on the big boobs), but Jil Sander is undoubtedly the Queen of Minimalism. If what you’re looking for is a brilliantly cut piece with like no bling and shit, then Jil’s ya lady.

3. When it comes to style icons very few people would argue that Marlene Dietrich is up there. Way way ahead of the game Marlene was doing the whole androgynous thing before anyone knew what it was, and famously said, "I dress for myself. Not for the image, not for the public, not for the fashion, not for men” – my kinda lady!

2. Diane Kruger – I mean, does she ever look bad?! I just have such a monumental style crush on her it’s not even funny. Kruger has a body to die for (she’s an ex-model, so fairs fair), and a wardrobe I’d kill for. In my eyes she always manages to walk the fine line between on-trend and fashion slave, and it always looks so god darn effortless. God – if I didn’t love her so much I’d hate her!

1. Storming in at 1st place is the one and only Karl Lagerfeld - in my opinion the best thing to come out of Germany since the Black Forest Gateau (and I can tell you that takes some beating). Captain of the good ship Chanel isn’t something that’s just given away, and I think if the fashion world is united in one thing (other than it’s love of stick-thin models and fur) then it’s that Lagerfeld is worthy of the crown. I’d always been a fan, but it was only after I saw that documentary film Lagerfeld Confidential (if you haven’t seen it yet – go do so) that the obsession began and I really came to realise and admire his genius. Even If Germany never again produces a Fashion designer the German fashion fraternity can forever rest smug in the knowledge that they gave the world Karl.

I didn't immediately know if I wanted to take this shot. While I was deciding I thought about my own daughters and realized it would be nice for them to see a young lady ,that is obviously very cool, dressed like this instead of the constant media parade of Britneys and Lindsays. This was the first time, in a long time, I was really nervous to ask someone for their photo.

I have always loved Francesco Clemente's work and his personal style (notice the frayed sleeve of his well-worn linen jacket). For me, he is a real icon of the New York art scene.

Here is a link to a great interview he did with Charlie Rose. I love what he says about "boredom" and "waiting" playing a huge role in the creation of art. As a street photographer I understand exactly what he's talking about.

Ok, this was funny for a while, but the joke is over. I want my Gourmet magazine back!

Come on Conde Nast, don't you think you overreacted pulling the plug on Gourmet so quickly? Not only was it my favorite food magazine, but it was also my favorite travel magazine. I not only wanted to eat the food but I also wanted to go to that place and meet those people.

To make matters worse the archives of Gourmet are either so buried in the Epicurious website or they are gone completely. The only element that is still easy to find are the recipes. If that's all they thought was worth holding onto then they didn't realize what they had in the first place.

How about this Conde Nast: if Gourmet was pulled as a reaction to the economic crisis then can we set a Dow number that will mark the immediate and simultaneous re-introduction of Gourmet? Let's say at 11,000 we go quarterly and at 13,000 we are a monthly again!!

All kidding aside....I'm serious....bring back my magazine.

This Collar Brings Back Memories, Florence

This type of shirt collar reminds me of my first Armani way back when I was in high school around 1985ish.

It had the same type of snap collar detail, but mine was in a beautiful grey/white/red stripe. I asked my Mom to buy it for me for Christmas from LS Ayres (luckily it was on sale), and after a month of begging it was under the tree on Christmas Day.

I loved that shirt SO much that I didn't dare unwrap it from the orignal packaging until around March! It took a while after that before i could actually start wearing it. Just between you and me, I think I still have that same shirt in storage back at my Mom's place.

It's great to have such fond memories of a first "designer" piece of clothing. They say "clothes don't make the man/woman" but that passion I had (and still have) certainly shaped the course of my future.

At this recent Pitti Uomo I surprised to see so many shirts in bold solid colors. As you can see in these two examples, it can be done very well when toned down with a navy suit.

The choice of color is extremely important. Because of the shirt's boldness, if you make the wrong choice, everyone will notice. To be honest, I can't really imagine a loud purple shirt looking good on anyone.

Along those same lines, I think it would also be a mistake to try and match a boldly colored shirt with an equally bold patterned suit. We'll see how this emerging trend plays out, but let's watch this with a very cautious eye.

When I walked by this shop in the blazing, late-afternoon sun of Florence, I thought "why does this seem so romantic to me?" I realized that it looks so different to my eyes because, as Americans, we would never see a retailer cover up the merchandise.

We would put some ugly orange gel in the window before we ever covered up the product.

I know it is such a cliche, but it is refreshing to see some things still done the old fashion way, even though I'm sure this place isn't air conditioned, which is not refreshing at all.

When I was in Milan last time I made my usual trek/pilgrimage to Al Bazar.

On the way I stopped into Biffi, a great old pasticceria, for a very cold sparkling water. While I was there I was struck by just how professional the gentleman behind the bar looked in his perfectly tailored uniform. Actually, the afternoon that I shot this image was the same day that I posted the young lady in Florence wearing a cleaning uniform. Maybe I had uniforms-on-the-brain that day.

If you compare the two images, I think both are great expressions of self.

I think that the young lady is expressing her self-image at the expense of her uniform: an "I'm more than this job" kind of expression. This gentleman, by contrast, seems to take great pride and respect in the profession he has chosen and expresses that pride in the exactitude of his uniform.

To me, this is also a great example of the difference between fashion and style.

This guy has STYLE. He has mastered the "refinement of detail."

He stood out dramatically from all the other bartenders, even though they were all dressed exactly the same, simply because he understood the implied dignity of the uniform. I mean, wouldn't you be surprised if this guy did a sloppy job on your cocktail? His style tells you "Trust me, I take my performance personally."

I would love to see a return of pride in wearing a uniform, not only from the people wearing the uniforms, but also from the companies providing the uniforms.

Many years ago my Mom use to work for American Airlines. They flew her from Chicago to New York just to have her uniform fitted. Who does that these days? Hardly anyone and our culture is poorer for that.

Why is it that some guys look so cool in a V-neck tee, such as Milan V. in this photo, and some guys look like total sleazeballs?

Usually a good chest helps to fill out a tee, but with a V-neck I think a well defined collarbone is a huge help. This is similar to the idea of never wearing a tank-top unless you have well defined shoulders.

Japanese fashion industry has long been caught between the popularity of Western fashion design houses and a flood of cheap products from Asian countries. So, although the Japanese fashion designers have a place in the country, but the obsession of penetrating foreign markets remains difficult ideals embodied many designers there.
Senior designer who triumphed on the international stage such as Issey Miyake and Yohji Yamamoto is a rare success that is hard to follow the next generation of Japanese designers.
To realize the obsession with the world market through Tokyo at the same time makes an important point of the international fashion industry, Japan Fashion Week (JFW), which was held October 31 to November 9 and at the Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery in Aoyama, designed to become the motor of the Japanese fashion industry.
The sidewalks along Aoyama and Omotesando who became famous locations such as Christian Dior boutique, Gucci and Prada filled JFW banners. During 10 days, 53 designers held their work, 35 young designers to make the exhibition in collaboration with the textile company, fashion industry symposium took place, Groove A campaign to increase the love of the product in the country, until the color trends seminar Asia.
JFW designed to build a synergy of all relevant sectors, the textile industry in the upstream to downstream designers. Japanese fashion world actually very dynamic character of the community thanks to a big city like Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, which is very conscious mode, but so far every self-employed sector and collaboration previously unthinkable.
Gentaro Noda, designer menswear "Iliad" tells, since 2004 he prepared the direct promotion of his work in Paris or Milan. "But when the committee contacted to participate and ensure JFW will present potential buyers from outside, I'm all out with the fall collection. The result is unexpected, I got six buyers from London, Hong Kong, and Paris. Now I am concentrating on JFW spring of next year, "said Noda, a graduate of St. Martin's Fashion School, London.

JFW is a project that fully supported the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan. Collaboration between designers and textile producers have for months because the designers involved from the beginning of production in textile factories.
Character design is most prominent in JFW among other skills-match fuse unique print-patterned material with complicated sewing techniques. In some designs, colors typical of Asia, such as red and green light appears in the form of a variety of inspiration, like the work of Misako Kato and Toru Hayashi labeled "Zin Kato / Cup".
According to the Japanese fashion observer, Martin Webb, the Japanese designer of many who attended the European fashion. Japanese original design knowledge combined with Western fashion techniques become extraordinary capital. Only, they were less promotional.
"We see the emergence of the designer Issey Miyake's caliber, but such success was not created through the strategy from the inside. Perhaps the wise words, better late than not act at all is an accurate picture of JFW. As said Chairman of the Council of Fashion Strategy of Japan, Akira Baba, JFW is a starting point for realizing Tokyo becomes the world's fashion mecca.

The first show that I really liked was Junya Watanabe.

The humor and quirkiness of Junya were still evident this season, but they were toned down to a point that made the collection even more desirable. Some Junya diehards commented afterward that the collection seemed "too commercial." I know they didn't mean it in a good way, but that commercial element made the collection so much more desirable for me.

This young lady was one of the cleaning crew at Pitti Uomo.

She wore the same green uniform as all the other young cleaning ladies but, as you can imagine, she was the only one that really stood out in that crowd.

Of course I really don't know anything about her but her stylistic choices for her hair, piercings, etc. give us a good place to start.

Uniforms are, by nature, an attempt to make people conform to a code. I always find it interesting when people are able to play within the set boundaries of a code while still not totally losing their own uniqueness.

This is easily one of the best Prada men's collections I've seen in a while. Gone are the sometimes over-the-top design details replaced by a very desirable collection based on color and proportion.

I think one of the few positives of this economic turbulence has been a shift away from designers trying to seduce us into what they think we need and instead offering clothes that we simply want to wear.

I'm showing more images from the runway this season (so far, anyway) because I'm actually seeing lots to love. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will continue in Paris.

Today was a very good day of menswear shows in Milano. It started early (very early) at Bottega Veneta and just ended at Prada with stops at Ferragamo, Ferre, and Moncler along the way.

Bottega Veneta was so strong: the color options, the focus on sportswear, and the casting of masculine, virile models.

I'm very curious about where the prices will come in on this collection. Even though the design details are fantastic, I don't want to spend a ton of money on cargo shorts.

2010 has some hot new looks, so let's take a peek. I'd like to restrict our research to women's shoes. I'm crazy about shoes and just love writing about them. I just love wearing them as well!

I have a big shoe collection that never stops growing. I'd like to tell you about the ones heading my list of favorites at the moment.

Christian Louboutin's designs are all ultra chic these days. Take a look at the reptile leathers. With tons of personality and a big wow factor, you're guaranteed an unforgettable entrance in those.

I'm also excited about the Roberto Cavalli ankle lace. It's a fun boot in sleek black leather that boasts a fairly high heel and laces around the ankle. It's a go-anywhere style that can be teamed up with all kinds of outfits.

A surprising new trend lately is the thigh-high boot with high heels. Although not the easiest style to wear, they compensate for this with the stunning look they create.

On a final note, the Hunter rain boot is making a welcome return to the stores. Hunter Wellies will offer a practical and trendy alternative to your usual sneakers when the weather turns wet.

Not only do these boots keep you in fashion, they're also very easy on your feet, which puts them at the top of my list for rainy days.

I love American khakis, but American brands add so much fabric to the back upper-thigh panel and butt that it always visually adds 10 pounds to any guy's backside.

This gentleman's khakis fit almost like jeans, and that's why they look so cool.

I am really inspired by some of the young guys that I'm meeting at Pitti. They seem to appreciate the elements of quality that great menswear can offer and yet approach and use these elements in a more modern and experimental way.

Autumn 2009 is upon us, and there are some key looks that have been adopted already by celebrities and featured in the top fashion magazines.

With the state of the economy this past year style gurus have been looking at ways of adding sparkle and bringing a bit of zest to peoples lives, and so sequins are a big scene this autumn. Anything that shimmers and sparkles is in - dresses have been adorned by celebrities such as Katie Price. If you're not quite so brave as to go out like this then wear sequin dresses over leggings or jeans.
Sequins will be seen on all items though, so don't limit yourself. There's blazers featuring sequins to fit any style - from all over to more subtle paterns. The same applies to tops - choose the amount of sequins that will fit your personality.
There's several looks that were big in the 1980's that have been taken by designers and updated for the modern lady. The first of these is the jumpsuit, either shorts style or with harem pants. Great for a night out clubbing, team up with a chain belt to pull in at the waist. Finish off with several bangles and either killer heels or gladiator boots.
Ballerina skirts have returned this year. These layered net skirts create volume and shape, and make the wearer appear playful instantly. Monochrome colours are best for the ballerina skirt this year. Wear with a printed t-shirt, another of autumn's essentials, or bodysuit, add some pearls, and team up with either a blazer of biker jacket.
Which brings us to the biker jacket. As well as paired with short skirts, biker jackets look good over skinny jeans. Black or brown look best, although other colours suit, such as red, white or grey. And don't presume they must be leather, but look out for fake leather, thick cotton twills and other synthetic materials.
Biker jackets commonly have studs, which ties in with the sequin look. And many have taken on that 80s look of the shoulder pad - but these are more subtle than the days of Dynasty to give shape rather than building up the shoulder.
If you need a dressy look then you need the printed dress. Again monochrome works best this autumn, but rather than strict patterns you are looking for a more abstract design. Again, smarten up with a subtle sequin blazer or add that racy look with a biker jacket.
These are just 5 of the key styles for Autumn 2009. So when you are out shopping for that killer autumn look remember these ideas and you will be setting the trends early.
